AI Literacy

Mandatory from February 2025 — the ability to understand and responsibly use AI, required by AI Act Article 4.

What is AI Literacy?

AI literacy is the ability to understand how AI systems work, their capabilities and limitations, at a level enabling responsible use. It's not about programming — it's about conscious, critical work with AI.

Legal requirement from February 2, 2025

AI Act Article 4 requires all organizations using AI (not just high-risk system providers) to ensure "sufficient AI literacy" for personnel operating AI systems. This is already in effect.

What must training cover?

An AI literacy program should include: understanding what AI is (and isn't), risk awareness (hallucinations, bias, privacy), prompt formulation skills, recognizing AI limitations, safe usage rules, and escalation procedures. Training should be role-appropriate.
